#000X Monday Report

Hello Itch.io fam! Here's a little update a few weeks on the making. Bae and I are working again on a fun project of a game, and that would be this, LewdComplex, a re-imagination of LewdQuest, our past game that never saw the leds of screens, now in Unity and with a few more years of experience. Of note, this is actually the 4th devblog, if you want to read the previous entries consider going to our Patreon to catch the first steps of the project. Also of note, every monday we will post an update on progress and little snippets of our weekly life. We hope to have this project ready to test in a couple months and hopefully a release candidate by the end of the year, or early next year. Thank you for tagging along! And onto the regular update

This week, oh, this week. Regular work was demanding, but I managed to steal a few hours to fight with RPG Maker and realized something… Since the last time I worked on LewdQuest, I’ve acquired a few new tools that make this process easier and more fun, potentially leading to a better result. One of those tools is 3D modeling, which is helping me create character bases that let me focus on character design. The same can be said about the scenarios; it's easier to design a city in 3D, render a base, and do the set dressing in pixel art.

So… RPG Maker. I really love RPG Maker, and if I were making a game 10 years ago, I might have had all the fun in the world with it. But another tool I got between LewdQuest and now is programming. Not that I am a master coder or anything, but I can build something decent in Unity or Unreal in a few hours. And you know what’s a terrible experience? Working with a tool on a project knowing you have a better one in the shed. I had this idea of revamping the photo-mini game; I wanted to add a better UI, all these things that are so doable, not easy for me, but at least doable in Unity, which need to be basically tricked INTO RPG Maker. We had to be sincere about it; making the game should be fun too. There’s too much “work” to do without adding synthetic complications. And that’s a long way to say we have started working on the game in Unity!

The game will remain largely the same, but making it will be easier and more challenging in the right way. We are not fighting against the engine but with it, to pull our vision off. And with that change comes the last little change we wanted to do: changing the official name of the project from LewdQuest to LewdComplex.

And here’s the first little sneak peek of LewdComplex running on Unity. All custom, pixel-perfect cam, tilemap structure, and character controllers, except the dialog manager because we have yet to integrate a couple of assets for that: GIF Placeholder

On minor notes, the characters for the first chapter/demo are ready and waiting. We will be releasing these updates in Spanish too, by request of some followers. With the update of the about page on Patreon, we are moving forward to create the itch.io page for the project too!

Life and Extras

This week, I almost didn’t play anything, but we started watching the latest season of Mushoku Tensei, and boy, it was fun. Going back to familiar faces (not recognizing half of them) and just eating trash with the best isekai, IMO, there is. Still early in the season, but boi, oh boi, this is looking GOOD.

I am also hooked on Adam Savage’s Tested YT channel. I'm taking a LOT of notes on model making because I really want to start working on some figurines of CyberGODs and, of course, LewdComplex. The dude is a master crafter, and his channel is really fun… If you enjoyed him on Mythbusters.

Imagine this, but with a big booba figure

And that’s it! See you next week, NPCs!
